Brenda A. Beavers has lent her social service expertise to The Salvation Army’s New Jersey Division in a number of vital roles for more than 41 years. Since 1991 she has served as Divisional Human Services Director, consulting on local programs and human services personnel throughout New Jersey in matters pertaining to program development, monitoring, evaluation, staff training, development, fundraising and more. Her responsibilities also include the administration of emergency disaster services and services to members of the Armed Forces and their families. In her work experience Beavers has directed daily operations for nonprofits, spearheaded development strategies for a number of organizations and overseen fiscal responsibilities for a variety of businesses, including budget preparation, contract compliance and monitoring, proposal writing and more. She is a member of multiple boards and organizations, including the National Association of Social Work, the New Jersey Anti-Human Trafficking Steering Committee, the N.A.A.C.P. Newark Branch and the Prison Ministry Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark (Chairperson), and has co-founded several boards, including the Newark Committee for the Homeless and the New Jersey Coalition for the Homeless. A graduate of Newark State College (now Kean University), Beavers has a bachelor’s degree in social work and earned her master’s degree in social work from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service.
